A Simple Guide to Preparing Ceremonial Cacao

Boil the kettle and let it sit while you make your cacao. You want the water to be hot, not boiling.

Put 20g of shaved ceremonial cacao into your blender with 80-120ml milk of your choice.

step 3

Add your sweetener of choice to taste. We love using honey, maple syrup, coconut sugar or stevia.

Add 100-150ml of hot water.Then blend for 10s or until frothy.

Life changer
GENUINELY could not be any happier with this purchase. I was addicted to coffee for years and started getting chest pains.. I knew I had to quit and I had always loved cacao during ceremonial circles.. but I was used to other brands that you had to spend a lot of time grating and melting over the stove. Although that can be more intentional and slow which is very special, I find I can still put those exact same intentions into my morning cacao every day and I’m just so grateful that it saves so much time and that first sip brings me right back into connection with my self. The pre shaved cacao and the blender has seriously changed my life; I rave to everyone about it, I haven’t had chest pain, and I’ve actually learnt how to get my OWN energy back that I never thought was possible when trying to quit coffee. Plus no headaches from withdrawals. Overall, I tell everyone I know to make the switch as I think the world would be a healthier and happier place! Thank you cacao collective ❤️

Absolute deliciousness
Great cacao, great blender, great service, great company!
Being a chocolate lover, when I found out about the product, I had to try it out. The taste is like no other and knowing the benefits, it’s not a guilty sin having this everyday! The blender makes it silky smooth and in these cold days, feels like an absolute treat but it’s my self care ritual.
Seeing their commitment in supporting the local farmers, together with donating to impoverished children in Peru, was the icing in the cake, making it a no brainer in supporting this company and their values. I’ll be back!

HOW MUCH CACAO SHOULD I HAVE?

We often recommend 10-15g for first time users in approximately 150-200mls of water; moderate use between 15-30g in 180-230mls of water; for ceremonial doses between 35-42g in 200-250mls of water. In any case, we recommend each individual works their way up to larger doses, listening to how their body responds before increasing. If using plant milks (recommended for enhanced flavour & texture), cut down on the amount of water used. A blender of some sort is always recommended if looking to create the smoothest drink possible.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I HAVE CACAO?

That's up to you to decide. Everyday is absolutely fine. If you feel called for a second serving, we recommend having it several hours apart using a lower dose. Like anything, we also recommend intermittent breaks. There are no set standards for this, and we leave this up to your preference.

HOW MANY SERVES PER BAG?

500g - approx. 33 serves 1kg - approx. 66 serves.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CEREMONIAL CACAO & CACAO POWDER?

Cacao powder is simply an extra processed form of cacao paste. It generally undergoes enormous pressure & heat (unless cold pressed) to separate the natural fatty acids from the other constituents of the cacao bean, leaving a powder behind. If nothing else is done to the powder, you have a pure cacao powder product. Cacao powder contains none of the fatty acids from the whole bean, so is lower in nutritional content compared to cacao paste. There are additional processes cacao powder may go through, which turns it into a cacao-based product, commonly called 'cocoa'. One major process includes roasting at high temperatures, which research shows significantly or completely destroys antioxidant content & other heat sensitive nutrition, thereby reducing the health benefits significantly. Other steps include alkalising through a process called dutching, or having additional ingredients added like milk, sugar, and preservatives. 100% organic criollo cacao paste is the highest quality, and most robust cacao for consumption.
